It’s the “one day in September”, the week before the other “one day in September”. Join Michael Nevinson, Barry Agg and boundary rider Bill Lucas this Saturday for 979fm’s broadcasts of the Ballarat Football League Grand Final live from Ballarat’s Eastern Oval. This year’s combatants are the Sunbury Lions and North Ballarat City.
Sunbury are no strangers to grand finals, having won 5 BFL premierships from 9 Grand Finals since joining the competition in 1997. Before joining the BFL they were part of the Riddell District Football League, winning 19 premierships. North Ballarat City are taking part in their first senior football BFL Grand Final since joining the BFL in 2008. North City’s sister team North Ballarat Roosters won 16 BFL premierships before leaving to join the VFL (formerly the VFA) in 1996.
In the other football grades Redan take on Darley in the reserves North Ballarat City battle Melton South in the Under 18.5s. It’s also Sunbury v North Ballarat City in the A-Grade netball. In B-Grade it’s Sunbury v East Point, Redan v Bacchus Marsh in C Grade and Redan v Ballarat in Under 18.5 netball
