We had some special guests visit 979fm recently, the girls from the band Stonefield came into 979fm´s recording studio Tran~Aqua Studios to perform a few acoustic songs for “Living In The Land Of Oz”.

Stonefield, made up of sisters Amy (21), Hannah (18), Sarah (16), and Holly (14), have had a big couple of years. In 2010 they won Triple J´s Unearthed High competition, while last year they played England´s Glastonbury Festival and supported both Cold Chisel and the Foo Fighters. Recently they played at the Big Day out and their song “Black Water Rising” came in at number 62 on Triple J´s Hottest 100 of 2011. The band are currently recording a new EP with Lindsay Gravina and an album is planed for later in the year.

You can hear their performance and interview here.

Congratulations also to Brooke Addamo aka Owl Eyes for getting two songs into the Hottest 100. Brooke was a contestant in the 979fm backed competitions Melton Junior Idol and Melton Idol before moving on to Australian Idol. Remember we saw her first Channel 10 and Triple J!
